AFTER-SCHOOL CLASSES
Join us for an afternoon of makering 1x per week all semester long! Our classes start after-school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday, and run for 2 hours. Each after-school class includes an ambitious, age-appropriate, and fun maker project, which could include crafts, art, gardening, cooking, design, science, music, life skills, sewing, carpentry, or a combination of these.
Each project incorporates the safe use of various tools, integrates upcycled materials through a range of creative techniques, and promotes the development of life skills. Each project is demonstrated using best practices, while individual creativity is celebrated. We close each class by cleaning up the Makerspaces and reflecting on the day.
The details:
After-school classes are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm.
See class dates below and use the sign-up page to enroll.
After-school classes run for 2 hours and are open to young makers ages 6-14.
We offer free after-school pick-up from Otis Elementary School on Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Kids will meet Deneese on the blacktop by the MPR – she’ll be wearing an Alameda Makering apron!
Alternatively, if you choose to drop off your child, please arrive 5 minutes prior to the start of class. Makering activities officially begins at 3:30, so kids arriving from other schools won’t miss out on the fun!
After-school classes are small format (8 makers max).
Projects vary in duration, ranging from 1-3 weeks.
All necessary supplies and materials are included.
Cooking projects will often be part of after-school classes. Be sure to advise of any food allergies or dietary restrictions so accommodation can be made.
Please bring an after-school snack and beverage each day; and have a sweatshirt or jacket for outdoor activities.
